Perry discovered CrossFit in 2010 in hopes of better preparing himself physically for his future in the military. He attempted his first CrossFit workout (6 Rounds of 400m run and 25 Burpees) and quit in the 3rd round. Even after years of Army physical fitness, he quickly realized that he was not as prepared for the unknown and unknowable as he thought he was. Being prepared for anything can be the difference between life or death for a soldier. Perry wanted to be an asset to his Platoon, not a liability. He researched, experimented, failed, started over, and learned CrossFit on his own for 3 years. He shared this newfound knowledge and passion with anyone who would listen and before he knew it, he was teaching others how to do CrossFit.
In 2013, he earned his CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification in Columbus, Ohio. In 2014, he joined CrossFit Hilliard as one of the founding members. He has trained hard and studied everything the Eleventh Element team challenged him with and is now part of the coaching staff. Perry brings his passion for CrossFit to every class, whether he is teaching it or not. He wholeheartedly believes that everyone is capable of doing great things, you just have to try.
